I never thought I would ever stop using it...until I tried making rice in the Instant Pot. Game changer, folks. Game changer. My pot takes about 10 minutes to come to pressure and I let the rice natural release for 10 minutes for fluffy perfection. So, total, I'd say about 25 minutes of hands-off cooking time for perfect rice.
Gather up your ingredients.
Add the rinsed long grain white rice to the Instant Pot, pour in the water, add the salt and give it a good stir.
Seal the Instant Pot, sent on manual high for 3 minutes.
When the timer beeps and the three minutes is up, allow a natural release for 10 minutes, then release the valve, carefully remove the lid, and fluff the rice with a fork.
The best way to store cooked white rice is to let it cool completely, then as soon as it's cool, refrigerate in an airtight container. Be sure not to let it sit out too long as bacteria can grow on it. A good trick is to spread it out flat on a a sheet pan to cool, us a fork to fluff it, then store it in a plastic bag or container with little air.
If you would like to freeze the rice, follow the same process listed above for cooling and then fluffing, then add to a freezer bag, laying it flat and squishing as much air out as you can. Frozen rice will stay fresh up to 2 months.
To reheat rice, add it to a microwavable bowl, add about a tablespoon of water, then cover and cook on high for 2 (refrigerated rice) or 3 minutes (frozen rice). Covering the rice allows the rice to re-steam and keeps it soft and fluffy.Print
