Lemon Poppyseed Muffins
Our backyard lemon tree is just bursting with lemons. The afternoon temperatures have really started heating up, prompting the tree to start dropping lemons and making new buds for next year. What to do with all the lemons?? Make lemon poppyseed muffins, of course! (you thought I was going to say lemonade, didn’t you?) Read more

BBQ Baby Back Ribs
Baby back ribs are cut from the upper, smaller ribs of a pig, where the ribs meet the spine. They are tender and flavorful and are called “baby” back ribs because their size is so much smaller than the rest of the ribs. Each rack of baby back ribs usually has anywhere from 10-13 ribs. There are some truly tasty ones out there. On a trip to Boston I ventured into the Boston Olive Oil Company. I tasted a few oils and vinegars and just fell in love with this balsamic fig vinegar. I’ve played around with it in different recipes and just love it as a component in salad dressing. Read more
Blueberry Muffins

I cannot resist buying container after container of blueberries because they keep going on sale. Half have ended up in the freezer for smoothies and yet I continue to buy more. They are just so expensive the rest of the year. And I love them in all forms. Especially muffin form. I have tried making a healthy version with whole wheat flour and less sugar. I really like them but my kids don’t. This version is not the healthy version. It’s basically like a cupcake with fruit hidden inside. And it’s magnificent. I will warn that too many of these muffins will lead to a muffin top so be sure to balance these with some protein and a few more minutes at the gym. They are worth every minute on the elliptical. I promise.

The weather is heating up and my garden is overflowing with lettuce, arugula, and kale. It’s so wonderful to be able to head out to the backyard to gather my own fixin’s for a salad. Arugula has a nice peppery flavor that compliments something sweet like baby beets.
