Blue Margarita

Blue Margarita

If you like margaritas, you will love a blue margarita.  Blue curacao takes the standard margarita to a whole new level.  The recipe is easy to make and the taste puts those store-bought mixes to shame. Turn off the news, kick off your shoes, and grab some chips and salsa. Let’s make a blue margarita.

Gather up your ingredients.

Ingredients for Blue Margarita

Pick some fresh limes. (okay, that’s just for us lucky enough to be able to grow citrus…the produce section of your local grocer is just fine too!)

Look at all the limes in my tree…waiting to be made in to tasty treats and drinks!

Kat's Lime Tree

If you like your margaritas with salt, take a slice of lime and run it around the rim of the glass to make it wet and a little sticky.  Dip the rim of the glass into some margarita salt. If you don’t have any of that store-bought fun margarita salt, kosher salt will do just fine. If you like your margarita on the sweet side, dip the glass rim in some sugar.

If you like your margarita on the rocks, combine the ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice, shake vigorously, and then strain the liquid over an ice-filled margarita glass.  If you like it blended, put all the ingredients in a blender, add 3/4 c. of ice and blend until smooth.  Garnish with fresh slices of lime.

If you like the blue margarita and want to keep the party going, try my strawberry margarita.

If you’re feeling hungry and want to make some yummy Mexican food for dinner, try my beef enchiladas, or green chili pulled pork enchiladas with a side of Spanish rice.
