Easy Slow Cooker Honey Sesame Chicken

Easy slow cooker honey sesame chicken is so easy and so tasty! It’s mild and sweet flavor make it a family friendly meal. The best part about this recipe is the ease of just making a marinade, pouring it over some boneless chicken thighs in the slow cooker, and you’re pretty much done.

For easy clean-up, either spray the inside of the slow cooker with non-stick spray or use a slow cooker liner.

Whisk together the onion, garlic, honey, low-sodium soy sauce, ketchup, olive oil, and sesame oil.

Add the chicken thighs to the slow cooker and pour in the marinade, evenly distributing it over and around the chicken thighs.

Set slow cooker on low for three hours and thirty minutes.

After the three and a half hours are up, remove the chicken, shred with a fork, return it to the slow cooker. Stir all the chicken together with the marinade, add the sesame seeds and green onion and cook for 30 more minutes.

Serve over white rice.

Sweet, juicy, delicious and tender chicken.  Toss the ingredients into the slow cooker and in 4 hours, you will have tasty perfection!

2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs
1/2 cup onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 cup honey
1/3 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup ketchup
1 tablespoons olive oil
2 teaspoons toasted sesame oil
1 tablespoon sesame seeds for sprinkling
2 green onions, sliced for garnish
Salt and pepper to taste


  1. In a large bowl, whisk together onion, garlic, honey, soy sauce, ketchup, olive oil and sesame oil.
  2. Sprinkle salt and pepper (to taste) on both sides of the chicken thighs . Place thighs into slow cooker. Add the sauce mixture and to the chicken and stir to combine.
  3. Cover and cook on low heat for 3 hours and 30 minutes.
  4. Remove chicken thighs from the slow cooker and shred the chicken before returning to the pot with the juices.  Sprinkle sesame seeds and green onions onto shredded chicken.
  5. Cover and keep warm for an additional 30 minutes. 
  6. Enjoy!


Serving Suggestion:  This chicken and honey sesame sauce tastes great served over rice or noodles.
