Ingredients for marinade:
You can marinate the steak for as little as one hour or as long as overnight. The recipe is easy and forgiving.
Simply whisk together the marinade ingredients, add them to a large baggie, add the steak, and refrigerate anywhere from one hour to overnight.
I think steak grills best if you take it out of the fridge and let it come to room temperature before you cook it. I usually set mine on the counter 30 minutes before cooking.
Grill the steak over medium high heat for about 4 minutes on one side, then 3 minutes on the other for medium rare. Cook a little longer on each side depending on your preference for doneness.
HINT: Flank steak is a lean, tougher cut of meat so be sure to slice it against the grain to help break up the muscle fibers.
HINT: If you'd like to use the extra marinade for a sauce, you can simply add it to a pan, bring to a simmer and cook for about 5 minutes on a low boil. The sauce will reduce and thicken a bit and you can use it as a sweet gravy or as a sauce over vegetables or potatoes.Print
